If you're running Tiger and Virtual PC 7 (or any other VPC version), you'll likely have gotten the error "Unable to initialize Virtual Switch Networking" when you tried to start it - what that is by the way is more or less the ability for the VPC to get it's own IP on the network instead of using the built in proxy.
Anyway, Microsoft has released an update for VPC7 that fixes the problem (actually it's been out since 2005-06-28). You can get it here (until they change the URL as they do quite frequently).
I am very happy this came out because now I can run my SuSE linux
distro to make sure web pages and applications work on both platforms -
Mac and Linux ;-)
P.S. Don't forget to allow access to services through your firewall on
the Mac side of things.

SYMPTOMS
Access to the external network and host will be unavailable to all guests using Virtual Switch Networking. Guests using Virtual Switch will still be able to access other guests using Virtual Switch.
CAUSE
Note This problem occurs even if you exit Virtual PC for Mac Version 6.1 before you start Virtual PC for Mac Version 7.
